  • Minimum drawer box width (OD): 15" or more

Tall

  • Minimum interior drawer box height: 4" or more
  • Minimum drawer box width (OD): 13" or more

Narrow

  • Minimum interior drawer box height: 4" or more
  • Minimum drawer box width (OD): 9" or more and may require a channel to be added in the cabinet sidewall

Vertical

  • Minimum interior drawer box height: 13" or more

Do I Need a 15 or 20 amp Docking Drawer Blade Series Outlet?

We often get asked this when it comes to choosing the right outlet for your drawer, especially when it comes to bathroom vanity projects where the outlet is used to power hair dryers and curling irons. See the answer here.

Project Planning in Canada

Docking Drawer outlets are ETL Listed for use in Canada. To plan your project, follow the planning details above and consider the following to comply with the CEC*:

In-Drawer USB Charging Stations for Canada

Specify Docking Drawer Blade Duo or Blade outlets with only USB ports. The ports remain energized and will charge devices when the drawer is closed.

In-Drawer AC Outlets for Canada

To add AC outlets inside of a cabinet, such as a bathroom vanity or a kitchen appliance garage, specify a 15 amp Docking Drawer Blade Duo or Blade outlet & the Safety Interlock Outlet with Blade Limit Switch (6015-1000W). The Safety Interlock Outlet with Blade Limit Switch de-energizes a Docking Drawer Blade Series outlets when the drawer begins to close.

*The Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) has the final say on whether an installation meets the requirements of the Canadian Electrical Code.

Goood product with one modification

Perhaps the contractor who installed it missed something but he had to modify the drawer (shorten the depth) in order to accommodate this piece.

Docking Drawer

Thank you for your kind words. Regarding the comment on shortening the drawer box, there are a few ways to install a Docking Drawer Blade Duo when there is not enough space behind the drawer box. One way is to shorten the drawer box, but another way is to use a spacer that shims the receptacle box into the drawer box. This allows you to install a Docking Drawer Blade Duo into as little as 1.25 inches of space behind the drawer box, which is perfect for inset cabinets, closets, and other types of applications.

Professional solution

Not only does the charger/outlet contain all necessary connections but it also mounts beyond expectations. It includes an arm at the back of the drawer that delivers protection for the power cord. As the drawer opens the arm unfolds with the cable attached so that it can never be pinched or loosened.
