How to Level Your Cable Management Arms & Fix Drawer Pullback

Smooth drawer operation starts with properly aligned cable management arms. Leveling and centering the arms during installation keeps your drawer opening and closing freely—and when a drawer starts pulling back afterward, arm alignment is almost always the cause. Here's how to set the arms correctly, then how to troubleshoot pullback if it happens.

Leveling & Centering the Cable Management Arms

Properly leveling and centering the cable management arms during installation is essential to a drawer that opens and closes smoothly. Follow the steps in your installation manual and watch the video tutorial for a step-by-step walkthrough. For tight vanity spaces or high-volume manufacturing, our Installation Tool for Tight Spaces helps ensure precise rear bracket alignment every time.

Troubleshooting Drawer Pullback

The Blade Series cord is jacketed in ultra-flexible TPE designed to move freely through the drawer's full range of travel. If your drawer is pulling back, the issue is almost always bracket alignment. These steps will help you resolve it:

  • Check the geometry of the cable management arms. The arms are designed to be neutral—they neither push nor pull the drawer. If they aren't installed parallel to each other, they can bind or pull the drawer box back. To check, loosen the three screws in the rear mounting bracket. This relieves any binding or pressure in the arms so the drawer can open and close normally, and lets you watch how the bracket moves to see whether the arms are out of parallel. If they are, reposition the rear mounting bracket until the arms sit parallel.
  • Allow for a break-in period. A drawer that pulls back slightly—about an inch or two—is often just a sign the cable management system is new. Because the parts are manufactured and packed tightly, they can need time to loosen up with regular use. Minor pullbacks like this usually resolve on their own as the system breaks in and weight is added to the drawer. If the drawer pulls back significantly (for example, halfway), that points to a deeper issue worth addressing.
  • Verify the installation. If adjustments don't resolve the pullback, confirm the outlet and arms are installed correctly by reviewing the steps in your installation manual and the video tutorial. Small deviations from the recommended setup are a common cause of persistent binding.
