Proactive Protection
A Consumer Reports analysis of National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) showed more than half of all house fires throughout a seven-year span had appliances –like dishwashers, refrigerators and microwaves– listed as the primary cause. Our Fire Guard Outlet was designed to connect to these common fire culprits and proactively reduce the risk of costly fire and smoke damage. At the first sign of smoke or rapidly rising heat, the device will sound an alarm, light up red and immediately cut power to the outlet and all connected devices BEFORE a fire breaks out. This added layer of safety protects the home and adds peace of mind in an increasingly automated world.
Simple Installation
The single gang electrical outlet (with one NEMA 5-15 or 5-20 receptacle and one interlock switch connector) will replace your existing junction box, and the smoke and heat sensor should mount alongside select devices and appliances. While installation does involve working with electrical components, it's relatively easy, particularly for those with basic electrical knowledge. For anyone lacking experience or comfort with electrical work, it's advisable to seek professional assistance for a safe and precise installation.
Versatile Application
Use the Fire Guard Outlet as an added layer of safety with dishwashers, gas dryers, audio/visual closets, 3D printers, microwaves, lithium battery charging stations, grow lights and other devices that are left powered on while unattended. This can also be used in infrequently visited areas of the home such as crawl spaces, attics and basements where larger equipment is often stowed, powered and unmonitored.
Code-Compliant
Safety is at the core of everything we do at Docking Drawer, which is why we rigorously test all outlets and obtain the appropriate recognition and safety listings. The Fire Guard Outlet holds Electrical Testing Laboratories (ETL) Listing as an Interlock device, emphasizing its safety and functionality. It is intended for supplementary protection and does not take the place of an approved smoke detector, as required by code.

I use cordless tools almost daily. I have my chargers all in my garage workshop area. After reading about Lithium Ion Battery fires I decided to add some protection to my charging rack. I bought the Fire Guard Outlet as one of two steps I took to better protect my garage / home from fire. The smoke and heat sensor for the FG Outlet is the only detector in the garage, so right off the bat I got more alert protection and the peace of mind knowing the power to my chargers would be disconnected should there be an “event”. I also added a timer to my charging rig to automatically turn power off after a preset time. More than once I’ve left Lithium Ion batteries to charge overnight; in my opinion a bad habit in one’s home.
Since many homes, like mine, have an attached garage with a workshop area, but typically never have a smoke or heat detector / alarm inter wired into the homes interior smoke detector(s) circuit the garage can easily be an undetectable source of fire; and there’s a lot of fuel in the garage to feed a fire.
I’m very familiar with electrical work, I found the installation of the FG Outlet very straightforward, and my opinion is the quality of the hardware is good.
As a former VFF I’ve seen the devastation fire can cause yo a home. Fire prevention , early detection , alarm(s), and good housekeeping can go a long way to save one from a very bad event.
I think using the FG Outlet in other closed areas of the home with appliance loads is going to be on my…
