At Docking Drawer, we take the safety of our products extremely seriously. That’s why we have incorporated core safety features into all of our in-drawer outlets, including an interlocking thermostat that de-energizes an outlet when the surrounding temperature exceeds 120°F. Our Blade Series outlets and our Safety Interlock Outlets are ETL Listed for use in the US & Canada, and we are dedicated to providing certified solutions to ensure our Canadian clients can benefit from using our smart, simple, and safe in-drawer outlets in their projects.

Below, we have included answers to common questions and key resources to help you better understand how different Docking Drawer products and applications meet the standards of the Canadian Electrical Code*.

Q: Are Docking Drawer USB outlets *code-compliant in Canada?
A: YES.

Our USB-ONLY outlet configurations—popular for charging drawers in kitchens, bedrooms, closets, and more—are ETL Listed and comply with Canadian Electrical Code. The Blade (1514-120) outlet with 4 USB-A ports, and the Blade Duo (1514-222) outlet with 8 USB-A ports, will stay energized and charge devices when the drawer is closed.

Q: Are Docking Drawer AC outlets *code-compliant in Canada?
A: YES.

For use in applications like vanity styling drawers and appliance pullout drawers, our Blade Series outlets with AC outlet configurations –when paired with our Safety Interlock Outlet with Blade Limit Switch– are compliant with Canadian Electrical Code.

The Safety Interlock Outlet with Blade Limit Switch senses a drawer's position and de-energizes the outlet when the drawer begins to close, satisfying the Canadian requirement of de-energized AC outlets within cabinets*.
