The Facts: Fire and Smoke in the Home

A Consumer Reports analysis of National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) showed more than half of all house fires (approximately 69,000) throughout a seven-year span had appliances –like dishwashers, refrigerators and microwaves– listed as the primary cause.

How It Works

Docking Drawer’s Fire Guard Outlet is a single gang electrical outlet featuring one NEMA 5-15 receptacle and one interlock switch connector. Mount the Smoke and Heat Sensor inside any enclosed or semi-enclosed space to de-energize the outlet (and power off any connected devices) when smoke or rapidly rising heat is detected.

“That’s the beauty of your [product]! It activates at the earliest possible moment and kills the power creating the opportunity for either self-extinguishment, or better yet, no fire at all. I teach a monthly fire extinguisher class where I tell the students that “if you can de-energize the equipment, 90% or the majority of time the fire will self-extinguish.”
